Tandem Yumuşatma Sistemleri, iki yumuşatma ünitesinden oluşmaktadır. Sistem geçen su miktarına göre volümetrik olarak kontrol edilebilmektedir. TANDEM sistemde her bir yumuşatma cihazı sırası ile rejenerasyon devresine girer ve hazır hale gelince prosesteki ünitenin doymasını ve prosesi kendine devretmesini bekler. Bu sayede insan müdahalesine ihtiyaç duymaksızın ve rejenerasyon işlemleri için proses durmadan günün 24 saati daimi şekilde yumuşak su üretilmiş olur.

Belli miktarda sert su reçine yatağından geçtikten sonra, reçine tanecikleri tamamıyla, sertlik mineralleriyle kaplanır. Bu durumda sertlik minerallerinin tutulması son bulur. Sertlik iyonlarının tekrar sudan tutulabilmesi için reçine taneciklerinin sertlik minerallerinden kurtarılarak tekrar sodyum taneciklerinin bağlanması gereklidir. Bu işleme ‘rejenerasyon’ adı verilir. Rejenerasyon işlemi, geri yıkama, tuzlu su emiş, yavaş durulama, hızlı durulama ve tuzlu su dolum olmak üzere 5 ana aşamadan oluşmaktadır. 5 aşamanın tamamlanması sonucu reçine, kalsiyum (Ca2+) ve Magnezyum (Mg2+) iyonlarını bırakırken, sodyum (Na+) iyonlarını tekrar kendine bağlar ve servis pozisyonuna hazır hale gelir.

FleckTandem Su Yumuşatma ünitelerinin dizaynı yapılırken reçine tankı içine yerleştirilecek olan reçine miktarı ham su karakterine, günlük ortalama debi ve pik su tüketimlerine bağlı olarak hesaplanır. Ayrıca rejenerasyon işlemi, zaman kontrollü, debi kontrollü veya sertlik analizörü ile çıkış suyu sertlik derecesi ölçümüne bağlı olarak otomasyonlu olarak sağlanabilmektedir.
